love the sunny side of life

This is a blog about the lovely and sunny lifestyle of the French and Italian Riviera. I will write about great cafes and restaurants in the area, beautiful and exciting places to visit, events in the area to attend to, the best food recipes of the Mediterranean cuisine and generally how to enjoy life to the fullest here. I am a Scandinavian woman with an half-italian family and ever since I moved down to Monaco a few years ago I fell in love with this beautiful region. With lots of friends in the area I have learned the best secret places to visit and most inspiring things to do here - I hope you will feel inspired to join me in what I consider the most beautiful and enjoyable place on earth. I hope you will love the sunny side of life too.
Formula 1 starts soon

It is so fun to watch the transformation Monaco goes through every year this time. The whole country is rebuilt into a race track! This year there will be historic Grand Prix as well which starts in 2-3 weeks only! In the meantime we pretend we are racing drivers going through the race track to be…

Nice excursion in Menton: La rue du Vieux Chateau

From the big church of Menton old town there is a small little road leading up to the old castle which is now the old cemetery of Menton. It is absolutely beautiful with an incredible view of the Mediterranean and Menton. Worth a visit!

Easter lunch in Italy

We enjoyed a magic Easter lunch in Italy today… the barbecue was used to its maximum doing fresh “rostelli” which is the small pieces of lamb skewers that you can see on the first picture in this post. They are very popular in Italy and you order them in some Italian restaurants and they are also very common in big outdoor street feasts.

Then we harvested the lemon tree and did a fresh lemon cake for desert! You can find the recipe for our delicious lemon cake in this blog (earlier article).

Happy Easter!

Monaco Rolex Masters - tennis semi finals!

Monaco is full of happenings in April! One very nice event is of course the tennis competition Rolex Masters. Yesterday we went to see the semi final between Federer & Djokovic! The atmosphere is magic, the sea beautiful behind the court and full of celebrities, locals and visitors from abroad. If you want tickets for the games you can go to their direct website www.rolexmasters.com. Be aware - if you want tickets to the prestigious final you need to buy them already in October - reserving hotel then can also be good…

Top Marques Monaco April 2014

Every year around Easter Monaco shows it’s pride when it comes to top sports cars and fast speed boats - the fair Top Marques in Grimaldi Forum. Worth a visit if you are in the region this time of the year!

The beautiful Menton Promenade
You can follow the sea all around Menton - a beautiful walk on for example a Saturday morning like today! Then stop at one of the many sea front bars to have a coffee or glass of rosé in the afternoon. Life quality!

Sanremo visit!

We went to Sanremo this Friday afternoon for some shopping and end of the week appertivo. We started with coffee at the home making coffee bar Bottega del café (yes they mix and brew it themselves - it is cheap and excellent👍).

Then we strolled through the busy shopping streets (they have everything from Mango and the popular Italian chain OVS to the most luxurious brands - also great luxury second hand stores.

Before returning home we sat down at bar Melody to have a nice cold glass of prosecco with a generous tray of appertizers.

One amazing insight today: Sanremo offers free wifi in the city - two hours per person and day! We had no idea Sanremo was so forthcoming ;)
